Hand-blown glass, painted from behind into rippling bands of color — no two are alike, and that's the point.
The Birdie vases are made by hand, which means the ripples move differently through every piece. Light travels through the glass rather than stopping at it, so the color shifts depending on where the vase sits and what time of day it is. On a windowsill in the afternoon they're a different object than they are on a shelf at night.
The low cylindrical form is deliberately simple, letting the color do all the work. Sold in pairs, which is how they should be used — two together read as an installation rather than an accessory. Beautiful with short stems, a single bloom, or empty as pure color on a console or shelf.
Each colorway comes in its own size: mauve with canary in the 6-inch, mauve with seal in the 8-inch. Together they make a natural grouping — four vases, two heights, two palettes that share the same mauve base.
