THE BREAKFAST NOOK
We wrapped the walls in a soft floral toile and built in a banquette with storage tucked underneath, so the room earns its keep on a Tuesday and still feels like somewhere you'd linger on a Saturday. A round pedestal table keeps the traffic easy in a tight footprint. The oversized pendant does the work a chandelier would in a larger room, and it gives the corner a ceiling.
Where It Started
A dark table, a dim corner, and no real reason to sit down. The bones were
fine: good window and good proportions. It just wasn't a room anyone chose.
THE LIVING ROOM
Christy already owned the art and the sofa, and both were worth building
around. So we did. A floating white oak mantel gave the corner fireplace the
weight it was missing, brass picture lights turned a blank wall into the
room's focal point, and a pair of bone inlay tables and a faded vintage-style rug filled
in the rest. Good design isn't always about starting over.

From Sketch to Built
There was nothing here. The entry was a pass-through, the part of the house you walked past on your way to somewhere else. We drew a bar into it: an arched niche with recessed lighting above and under the shelves, open display for glassware, closed cabinetry below, and a beverage fridge built in so nothing has to travel from the kitchen.
The cabinetry is painted Cocoa Berry, a deep rosy brown that picks up the tones running through the rest of the house and connects the entry to the breakfast nook just around the corner. Patterned wallpaper behind the shelves gives the niche depth, and aged brass hardware ties it back to the kitchen.
Now the first thing you see when you walk in is the place everyone ends up.

THE SNARK BAIT PODCAST STUDIO
A podcast studio has an unusual brief: it has to sound right, sit still on camera, and not look like a room built for equipment.
So we committed. The entire room is drenched in Cocoa Berry, the same color
as the bar in the entry, carried through walls, trim, and doors which collapses the edges and lets the space read as one enveloping backdrop instead of a box with corners. Overhead, a large-scale floral wallpaper gives the ceiling something to say, and a bubble-glass chandelier does the quieter work: it rarely lands in the podcast frame, but it warms the whole room and gives every photo taken in here a soft vignette.
It's still a room in a house. It just happens to be where the show gets made.
